I recently had Wendy from Wendy Monaghan Editing Services complete a copy edit for my PhD thesis in Environmental Science, and I couldn't be happier with the result. Wendy did a thorough and meticulous job, ensuring that my work was polished and ready for submission. Her attention to detail and expertise in copy editing were evident throughout the process. I would highly recommend Wendy for any future editing services, as she exceeded my expectations in every way, particularly to get your thesis in tip top shape. I would like to say a sincere thank you for your detailed work and constructive notes. I referred to your letter and style sheet all the time during the revision, and I believe it will help with my future writing, too. I cannot speak highly enough of your work and your thoughtfulness. I am so glad that I found you many years ago and that we were able to work together on my thesis. Thank you, and all the best!

In 2022, I hired Wendy Monaghan to copy edit my thesis, and the standard of her work was exceptional. My thesis was long (418 pages) and included 54 appendices. Not only did Wendy work to a tight deadline, correct the spelling and grammatical errors and amend the style inaccuracies, she included detailed notes and suggestions to improve the clarity of my work. She was very meticulous and went the extra mile to ensure that everything was perfect. I can recommend Wendy unreservedly, and I will be using her editing services again in the future. Wendy provided copy editing and formatting for my Doctor of Education thesis, which was approximately 90,000 words in length.
Her professionalism and guidance during this process was invaluable. She provided detailed explanations around many editing aspects of my thesis, which was excellent. My thesis included many detailed tables, figures and appendices, and her eye for detail in editing these was exceptional.
Wendy also replied to communication we had in a timely manner and kept me up to date on how she was progressing. She was also able to successfully meet my tight deadline.
I have no hesitation in recommending Wendy’s service to others, and I am so grateful that she was able to work with me in the final stages of my research journey.

I did not know about Wendy until I stumbled upon her services during a Google search. And I am so glad that I found her. Wendy was meticulous and careful in her editing. She was able to significantly help me to more clearly and concisely articulate my messages. Wendy’s passion for delivering a superior service is evident, as is the pride that she takes in her work. Her capabilities aside, I found Wendy to be very friendly and pleasant to deal with, and she went above and beyond to ensure the best possible result for me. I am so happy with the final outcome, and I will definitely be coming back to Wendy for future projects.

Wendy Monaghan did an extraordinarily professional job editing my 110,000-word PhD thesis. The need for editing was clear, especially for me as an international student. I was reluctant to choose one of the hundreds of online services for this important task. I had been working on my thesis for almost five years; I wanted to know who would be editing it, and I wanted someone who would provide a very high quality of editing.
Wendy did an outstanding job with my thesis. I had witnessed fellow PhD students merely receive from their editors a list of spelling mistakes, syntax errors and the like. This did not happen to me.
Everything from scheduling and planning to communication and the actual editing was extremely professional and transparent. Wendy also provided additional advice and was very fast at responding to my questions, even after I had received the edited thesis. Pricing was also absolutely fair and transparent.
I was impressed with Wendy’s ability to understand what my thesis was about. She paid great attention to every detail. Based on the questions Wendy asked me, it felt like she was treating the thesis as her own. Although it took some time for me to work through Wendy’s comments and suggestions, this was exactly what gave my thesis the final professional touch. Thanks to Wendy, my thesis became more accessible to readers and went smoothly through the internal and external examination process. Thank you, Wendy, for helping me bring this long journey to a grand conclusion!

PhD thesis, exegesis
Wendy Monaghan proved to be an exceptional academic editor for my PhD thesis that accompanied my original work in my 2019 final PhD submission. My thesis was complex and long; it involved both mathematical and scientific ideas as well as challenging nomenclature.
The document also focused on complicated ideas around drama and theatre writing. Wendy’s copyediting and formatting were of top quality. Her experience with a variety of universities’ academic styles and requirements was apparent, and she was meticulous in her attention to detail. The appendices, up to 30 in number, required individual attention and painstaking arrangement, and Wendy was calm throughout despite my often last-minute complex requests. Dealing with Wendy was like dealing with one’s dream team-member, someone there beside you, helping you reach the finish line. Everyone describes the writing-up phase of a PhD as exhausting, but until one has endured the process, it is impossible to know the sort of support that makes that process endurable. I cannot imagine ever completing this enormous document nor shaping it into submittable form without Wendy there to guide me. I will always be grateful for her incredible commitment, noting that in those final few days, she went above and beyond the call. |
All sorts of weather conditions attempted to derail the completion of this document—various floods and fires meant that WiFi was not always reliable when attempting to share extremely large documents. But Wendy was the voice of calm when panic set in, and she found a way around all issues. Thank you, Wendy, you always reminded me of the light at the end of the tunnel and gave me the gift of your patience and advice.

PhD thesis
Wendy’s contribution to my doctoral dissertation, written in the humanities, was very significant. Her edits greatly improved the clarity of my writing, which in turn sharpened the focus of my thesis throughout.
Wendy works seamlessly between issues of grammar, expression, and logic of argument, at turns proposing reformulated sentences, while at others suggesting how a particular point might be more prominently presented. Wendy will read your work incredibly closely, picking up on repeated mistakes and misplaced punctuation in the front matter, body text, figure captions and references, and bringing each of these aspects of your dissertation into line with whatever style guide you have been prescribed. Wendy’s edits are consistent; she has no problem working across multiple languages; and she is generous with her time, should you have any questions.
The most pleasant aspect of working with Wendy on the finalisation of my PhD was that she took the project on as her own. At the time, bushfires were raging very close to her home; however, she remained committed to seeing the process through to the end. At that point, Wendy not only provided clean copy but also produced an analysis of recurrent mistakes in my writing and shared relevant citation guides tailored to my research. I was more than satisfied with Wendy’s work and professionalism and would not hesitate to recommend Wendy Monaghan Editing Services to others.

PhD thesis formatting
In 2018, I engaged Wendy to undertake formatting work on my PhD thesis. This formatting involved the removal of unnecessary spacing on pages, the insertion of requisite declarations into the thesis and the correct presentation of headings and subheadings in the table of contents and throughout the thesis.
From our initial negotiations as to the scope and cost of the work through to completion of all required tasks, Wendy displayed close attention to detail and was thoroughly professional in her approach. Wendy provided helpful suggestions on the formatting of the thesis. Wendy was also prompt in her service and very understanding and considerate of the anxiety I was feeling around the submission of my thesis by a fixed deadline. With that deadline approaching, it was a great relief to have someone reliable like Wendy do this final formatting work.
I highly recommend Wendy to any thesis candidate who requires editing and formatting assistance. It is for that reason I have recommended Wendy to the law school at UNSW as an editor and formatter for other candidates.

PhD thesisIn 2013, I engaged Wendy Monaghan Editing Services to professionally edit my PhD thesis. I had spent so much time getting the content right, and I was at that stage where I knew I wasn't seeing what I'd written, so it was a great comfort to know that Wendy would review it thoroughly.
I was in awe of Wendy's attention to detail and thrilled with her suggestions. Her changes to the text significantly improved the readability of the document and ensured that I presented my work and ideas in a way that was clear and concise. I believe, because of Wendy's services, I have submitted to the assessors the best version of my work possible. Master's thesis
I am delighted to provide a testimonial for Wendy Monaghan Editing Services. From the moment I began communicating with Wendy, I felt confident that my master’s research thesis was in great hands. My initial concern was one of formatting. There were many elements to my thesis, and the collation of contents to include a large number of tables was a daunting task. The thesis was lengthy and had been through a number of drafts, with a long list of references. Wendy approached the copy edit systematically and with much appreciated enthusiasm. Prior to starting, she outlined exactly what she would do, including how she would present her suggestions within the document in order that I might consider them, how long the edit would take and how much it would cost, which was most reassuring. As my writing tended towards the verbose, and at times anachronistic, Wendy was able to provide useful suggestions towards straightforwardness in instances where I had unwittingly, through over complex sentence structures, muddied my own meaning.
I learnt after completion of writing that the requirements of my thesis meant my references needed to be restyled within the text and the bibliography. Another huge task. Although I had checked the document prior to sending it to Wendy, her thorough rechecking of my references revealed errors, which I had not spotted myself. Wendy’s second pair of expertly trained eyes proved invaluable to the final polish of the thesis, and gave me great confidence that any failing that examiners might find in it would be due to my ideas, not any annoying technical errors of writing or formatting.
I would thoroughly recommend Wendy’s service. To work with someone who was acutely aware of the specific technical requirements needing to be attended to when presenting one’s writing for examination and an understanding of the particular thesis protocols of particular university faculties provided great solace. I was able to submit my completed thesis confident it was professionally presented and correctly formatted to all specifications required because of Wendy’s expertise.

I strongly recommend the editing services of Wendy Monaghan. From the initial enquiry to the final edit of my honours thesis, Wendy was an absolute pleasure to work with. I was hesitant to contact an editor via the internet; however, I'm so grateful and pleased that I went ahead and enquired. Wendy has so much experience and knowledge with APA referencing and psychology, and I believe these priceless skills and experience brought my thesis from a distinction to a high distinction level. I am so happy I chose Wendy. I have recommended her to many other honours and masters students. Thanks, Wendy!

Master's thesisI would like to thank Wendy for all her work in the editing of my thesis. I came to Wendy after a bad experience with another editor. Wendy was not only able to help me under a tight deadline, she did an exceptional job. Her edits were extremely thorough, and her style sheets where extremely helpful in terms of addressing grammatical issues within my writing, which I will be able to refer to for future work. Wendy was also extremely professional to work with and very kind. She made herself available for questions and answered them very quickly. Thank you for all your hard work, Wendy. Biography and memoir |
Writing my first book was terrifying. As the last descendant of Jane Austen’s family to grow up on the ancestral estate where Jane herself lived and wrote her most famous works, I knew my memoir would be read around the world. During my first telephone conversation with Wendy, I felt comfortable and confident that Wendy had the skills and experience to help me. But what made Wendy stand out was I felt she really cared and understood how important this book was for me and my family. We only had a few weeks before the book had to go to print (in time for the 2017 bicentenary commemorations of Jane Austen’s death) and, having looked at my manuscript, Wendy gave me honest and invaluable advice about what best to do with that time to produce the best possible outcome. Having agreed on an action plan and a way of working living a thousand kilometres apart, including the support of Annie Ellis, a colleague of Wendy’s, so we could hit the deadlines, Wendy worked tirelessly and kept me on track. With the perfect balance of listening to my wishes and firmly leading me where necessary, we produced a book I am truly proud of. I have received letters of appreciation from Jane Austen fans around the world, and the book has excellent reviews online and in the media. I loved the whole experience of working with Wendy Monaghan Editing Services, and I wouldn’t hesitate to use Wendy's services again in the future.

I had known of Wendy Monaghan Editing Services' work for a number of years, and I recently had the opportunity to use Wendy as editor for a number of MRCSA publications, ranging from submissions to policy documents, reports and marketing material.
I am quite amazed by the scope of her expertise in terms of editing, from her attention to detail, her ability to clarify and simplify language while ensuring style consistency, through to her logical structure of a diverse range of documents. Over the past three years, her work has provided the MRCSA with a consistently high standard across all our marketing and resource publications.
I also commend her professionalism, her excellent communication skills, flexibility, tact and patience. Wendy meets deadlines that enable the MRCSA to achieve large communication projects within set time frames.

I have engaged Wendy Monaghan Editing Services to edit a number of documents and publications over the past four years. I first worked with Wendy when I was a member of the editorial advisory committee for FECCA's national magazine Australian mosaic and Wendy was the magazine editor. I was so impressed with her editing skills, her intelligence and her understanding of the complexity of the myriad of issues raised in the magazine that I had no doubts about approaching her when I needed a freelance editor.
